چکیده

We prove that Padé approximants yield increasingly accurate predictions of higher-order coefficients in QCD perturbation series whose high-order behaviour is governed by a renormalon. We also prove that this convergence is accelerated if the perturbative series is Borel transformed. We apply Padé approximants and Borel transforms to the known perturbative coefficients for the Bjorken sum rule. The Padé approximants reduce considerably the renormalization-scale dependence of the perturbative correction to the Bjorken sum rule. We argue that the known perturbative series is already dominated by an infra-red renormalon, whose residue we extract and compare with QCD sum-rule estimates of higher-twist effects. We use the experimental data on the Bjorken sum rule to extract αs(M 2 Z) = 0.116 +0.004 −0.006, including theoretical errors due to the finite order of available perturbative QCD calculations, renormalization-scale dependence and higher-twist effects. Pade Approximants and Borel Summation for QCD Perturbation Expansions

We study the applicability of Pade Approximants (PA) to estimate a ”sum” of asymptotic series of the type appearing in QCD. We indicate that one should not expect PA to converge for positive values of the coupling constant and propose to use PA for the Borel transform of the series. If the latter has poles on the positive semiaxis, the Borel integral does not exist, but we point out that the Ca...

Scale- and scheme–independent extension of Padé approximants; Bjorken polarized sum rule as an example

A renormalization–scale–invariant generalization of the diagonal Padé approximants (dPA), developed previously, is extended so that it becomes renormalization–scheme–invariant as well. We do this explicitly when two terms beyond the leading order (NNLO,∼αs) are known in the truncated perturbation series (TPS). At first, the scheme dependence shows up as a dependence on the first two scheme para...

Renormalization-scheme dependence of Padé summation in QCD.

We study the renormalization-scheme (RS) dependence of Padé Approximants (PA’s), and compare them with the Principle of Minimal Sensitivity (PMS) and the Effective Charge (ECH) approaches. Although the formulae provided by the PA, PMS and ECH predictions for higher-order terms in a QCD perturbation expansion differ in general, their predictions can be very close numerically for a wide range of ...

We recapitulate the method which resums the truncated perturbation series of a physical observable in a way which takes into account the structure of the leading infrared renormalon. We apply the method to the Gross-Llewellyn Smith (GLS) sum rule. By confronting the obtained result with the experimentally extracted GLS value, we determine the value of the QCD coupling parameter which turns out ...

Achieving renormalization–scale– and scheme–independence in Padé–related resummation in QCD

Previously developed Padé–related method of resummation for QCD observables, which achieves exact renormalization–scale–invariance, is extended so that the scheme–invariance is obtained as well. The dependence on the leading scheme parameter c2 is eliminated by a variant of the method of the principle of minimal sensitivity. The subleading parameter c3 in the approximant is then fixed in such a...
